DIY: QUOTE ART

i think by now it’s pretty apparent how obsessed i am with quotes. they get me goin’. they get my out of bad moods. they get me up in the morning. they inspire me. and lately i’ve been extremely inspired by bringing quotes to life.  so this project makes perfect sense. i am running out of wall space what with my chalkboard platters, my earring holder, and oodles of picture frames. but this was just too fun. i had to do it. and it’s e-a-s-y. allow me to explain…

WHAT YOU NEED:

a canvas, paint, paint brushes, paint palette, temporary vinyl letter stickers, and a quote of course.

WHAT YOU DO:

1. paint your canvas. you could paint it one color, or into a pretty pattern, or in rainbow stripes. whatever you want really. this is eventually what your quote is going to look like.

2. position your letters. i recommend cutting them and arranging them before actually sticking them on. it will take a bit of time, but it’s worth it. there is nothing worse than poorly spaced letters. {well okay, there probably is. like war, and starvation. but in the world of quote art- there is nothing worse}.

3. once your canvas is dry, paint it white! it’s scary i know. but it must be done. paint a nice coat, or two, over your canvas and letters. be sure not to get too crazy, as you don’t want the white paint to bleed under the letters.

4. carefully peel off the letters once the white paint is completely dry. and voila! art + inspiring words = perfection.

do you have a favorite quote you’d like to turn into wall art? or have you already made something like this?

if you’re lucky enough to be able to bring a beloved quote to life, you’re lucky enough
