pancake tuesday.

last tuesday was much more exciting than this tuesday. why? because it was pancake tuesday! in ireland, the day preceding ash wednesday is called pancake tuesday. you may call it fat tuesday, mardi gras, or even shrove tuesday.

i believe from a little chit chatting and googling, that pancake tuesday became pancake tuesday in order to use up rich foods before lent. pancakes need milk, eggs, sugar, all of which were normally given up during the fasting of lent.

lauren, rachel, and i decided to host a few lovely ladies over for pancake tuesday. we added a little spice to the evening with bacon, sausage, and eggs. and our pancake toppings included blueberries, banannas, syrup, lemon juice, and sugar. it was deeeelicious.

what a great way to spend a tuesday. yum.

if you’re lucky enough to be in ireland for pancake tuesday, you’re lucky enough
